Robbery at Chivayo’s In-Laws: A Timeline of Events
On March 18, 2025, at approximately 1:00 AM, a robbery occurred at Alpha Omega (Muteke) farm, Marondera. 20 suspects, armed with three rifles, two pistols, bolt cutters, machetes, and iron bars, targeted the farm’s security personnel.
Overpowering Security
* One security guard was apprehended by one of the 20 accused persons, together with another guard.
* The two security guards were force-marched to the main yard where the robbers overpowered and disarmed another security guard.
Targeting the House
*The two disarmed security guards were tied up at the front guardroom. A third guard was forced to guide the robbers to the house.
* The robbers forcibly entered the main house.
* They forced open the kitchen door and targeted a spare bedroom.
* A resident of the house was forced to hand over USD 18,000 in cash, a loaded pistol, and two cell phones.
* The robbers proceeded through another bedroom, where an additional USD 1,100 in cash, safe keys, and a cellphone were stolen.
* The robbers then reached the main bedroom and coerced an occupant to open a safe, yielding USD 55,000 in cash.
Confrontation and Escape
* A fourth security guard, alerted by the farm supervisor, responded to the robbery.
* An exchange of fire ensued between the security guard and the robbers.
* The robbers fled the scene.

The robbers made off with USD 74,600 in cash, with no recovery of any items.
