Two Zimbabwe nationals jailed for poaching in South Africa

Two Zimbabwean men and their South African associate have been jailed for five years after they were arrested while hunting for rhinos in South Africa’s Limpopo Province.

According to court details on March 22, 2024, members of the Limpopo provincial stock theft and endangered species unit conducted an operation targeting suspected rhino poachers in the Waterberg district.

During the operation a suspicious vehicle was identified and stopped.

The trio – Kholowani Mwembe (40), Emmanuel Murombedze and Stephen Sshoue – was busted by alert security officials who recovered a firearm, ammunition, and a knife.

The trio pleaded guilty in the Mahwelereng Regional Court to charges of conspiracy to commit Rhino poaching, unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition.
