The newly appointed Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) commander, Lieutenant General Emmanuel Matatu Friday officially took over command of the force during a handover and takeover parade held at Charles Gumbo barracks in Harare.
He took over from Lieutenant General (Rtd) Anselem Sanyatwe, who was appointed minister of Sport.
The exchange of command was led by commander Zimbabwe Defence Forces General Philip Valerio Sibanda.
General Sibanda said the two generals exchanging command were people of unquestionable loyalty who have served the country with distinction before and after independence.
