Warriors to know COSAFA fate this Wednesday

Zimbabwe are among the 14 nations set to learn their group stage opponents in the 2024 COSAFA Cup draw this Wednesday at 11am.
The regional tournament will see World Cup semi-finalists and North African giants Morocco making their historic debut as a guest team.
The competition, staged for the first time in Bloemfontein, will see teams split into four pools, Groups A and B with four teams each, and Groups C and D with three.
Along with Zimbabwe, the pool includes Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Lesotho, Eswatini, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, and guest nation Morocco.
The tournament, running from June 26 to July 7, serves as crucial preparation for Southern African teams ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in September.
Zimbabwe go into the competition as one of the most successful COSAFA Cup nations, boasting six titles, second only to Zambia’s seven.
The Warriors hold multiple records, including the most wins (40), longest unbeaten run (17 games), and most goals scored (113).
Legendary forward Peter Ndlovu remains Zimbabwe’s top scorer in the tournament with eight goals.
The Warriors have also produced three hat-trick scorers, Ndlovu (2004), Ovidy Karuru (2017), and Knox Mutizwa (2017)—and are the third nation to win back-to-back titles (2017, 2018).
Free State Stadium, a 2010 World Cup venue, and Dr. Petrus Molemela Stadium will host the matches.
