The rape trial involving socialite Mai Jeremaya opened in Harare this Friday with her alleged assailants pleading not guilty to the charges.
The duo accused of raping her, Thabo Blessing Dube and Martin Charlie, denied the allegations when they appeared before Harare regional magistrate Letwin Rwodzi.
The duo told the court that Mai Jeremaya was the one who initiated the said business meeting and actually initiated actions that led to a consensual sexual intercourse for US$20.
The duo told the court that, Mai Jeremaya unexpectedly demanded US$500, citing that she had offered what she termed as “extras”.
The trial resumes on June 17.
