Former Tourism Minister Walter Mzembi’s bid for freedom has been denied after Harare Magistrate Donald Ndirowei dismissed his application to cancel outstanding arrest warrants and officially revoked his bail.
The court upheld the validity of the three warrants, issued due to Mzembi’s repeated failure to appear in court, including one tied to a 2018 case involving allegations of criminal abuse of office.
Mzembi was arrested last Friday by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) after failing to comply with court summonses.
The state further disclosed that the full case docket has not yet been located. A tentative trial date has been set for July 1, 2025, pending further progress in the case.
