FORMER Premiership side, Tenax, are eyeing a comeback to the top-flight, inspired by a wave of good results.
Tenax are currently on second position in the Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer trailing leaders FC Hunters by a point.
The Prison Wardens have amassed 28 points from 10 games and have a game in hand over their title rivals.
They defeated St Pauls Musami 2-1 at Sakubva at the weekend to take their unbeaten run to five games.
Tenax coach Blessing Madombi told Zimpapers Sports Hub that their target is to play in the Premiership next season.
“Our target is simple, we want to win the championship and gain promotion to play in the top-fight once again.
“That has been the message to the boys since the start of the season and I am happy with the shift, four games without a defeat in the month of May is not a joke and this win against St Pauls take our unbeaten run to five games,” said
For their feat, Madombi was awarded with the coach of the month for May, receiving a prize money of US$200 and an accolade.
“It’s a great feeling to be recognised and rewarded as the best in a league with so many competitive teams.
“I give credit to the players, my technical team and the fans as well. Going for five games without a defeat takes effort from everyone who is involved.
“I also think the coming in of sponsorship from Pacific Storm into the Eastern Region has improved the competition,” added Madombi.
Pacific Storm Marketing Manager Kudakwashe Chiutsi said they are going to introduce more incentives to improve competition and motivate players.
“So apart from sponsoring the league, we felt it is also important to introduce awards, like coach of the month, player of the month and goalkeeper of the month.
“This is work in progress for us, we are going to introduce other initiatives as the league progresses. We want to ensure that the welfare of players is well catered for them to focus on playing football.
“We also coming up with initiatives that benefit communities as well,” said Chiutsi.
