Harare regional magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa has denied bail to a Harare man whose pit bulls fatally attacked a passerby in Bluffhill last month.
He returns to court on June 27.
Mike Mapinga is facing charges of culpable homicide.
Gofa ruled that Mapinga is not a suitable candidate for bail, citing two outstanding warrants that had to be cancelled after his arrest on this matter.
The State alleges that Mapinga, the owner of three pit bulls and a Rottweiler, acted negligently when he left his unmuzzled dogs unsupervised at his rented property.
The dogs reportedly scaled the low wall and attacked Samuel Machara, a passerby who was walking along a nearby street.
Machara died due to injuries sustained during the attack. – The Herald
