CHIVHU-based Madziire High School will be a hive of activity when a total of 12 teams converge for the Formula Gas Goversburg Buses 2025 Soccer tournament this Tuesday.
The tournament is the brainchild of Goversburg Buses owner Lazarus Chigova who hails from Chivhu in Mashonaland East.
Chigova said, the tournament has reached its climax and is looking forward to a successful grand finale.
“I am delighted that we have reached to finals of the Formula Gas Goversburg Buses 2025 Soccer tournament. The tournament started as a 36-team schools’ soccer tournament, and we are happy that we will have the finals at Madziire High School in Chivhu.
“The idea is to give back to the community, especially Mashonaland East schools, where I hail from. As an ardent soccer fan I saw it prudent to organise the soccer tournament which I am looking forward to make an annual event.
“There are a lot of schools who will take part and I am grateful to the school heads who made it possible to see the tournament reach this stage.
“The games are crucial as they expose young talented players and also give winners something to celebrate as there will be a floating trophy and medals.
“I have taken soccer as a way to fight drug and substance abuse in youth and I look forward to expend to other sporting disciplines like netball and volleyball in the next events,” said Chigova.
Participating schools
Daramombe, St Francis of Assis, Riversdale, Kwenda, Hande, Buhera, Murambinda, Zinatha, Madzi, Madziire, Mahusu.
