Zimbabwean star-kid Cobert Junior Chimedza, 20, was the spot-kick sensation as his side AC Marinhense battled through to the next round of Portugal’s big cup clash, the Taca de Portugal.
In a nail-biting showdown against Samora Correia that ended 1-1, it was young Chimedza who held his nerve, helping his team blast their way to a 3-0 win on penalties.
The dazzling winger, on loan from top-flight giants Gil Vicente, said he is enjoying his new lease of life at Marinhese,
“I am absolutely loving it here!
“It’s never easy moving to a new country, but the lads and the gaffer have been brilliant.
“I have played a few games now and to help the team progress in the cup was massive for me.
“I’m going to keep my head down, work my socks off, and aim to get back to my parent club as a real contender.”
His big move to Gil Vicente hit a paperwork snag earlier this year, but this loan spell is proving he’s got the talent to take on Europe.
