Three City of Harare employees have died while working at Morton Jaffray water works near Norton this morning.
In a statement, the city of harare said the employees were working on a decommissioned clarifier when tragedy struck, with the third victim pronounced dead upon arrival at a local hospital.
The council has extended its condolences to the families of the deceased saying investigations have since been launched.
“Initial reports indicate that the employees were working on a decommissioned clarifier when tragedy struck. The City of Harare is investigating the incident.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and loved ones affected by this devastating loss.
“The City of Harare is fully committed to cooperating with the authorities as investigations continue into this tragic event.
“Police have been informed and are attending to the incident.
“We will share further information as it becomes available.
“We ask the community to join us in offering support and compassion to those grieving this heartbreaking loss.
“The City of Harare assures residents and the general public that the incident does not in any way affect water production and quality.”
