A 15-year-old boy from Devure Village in Buhera was fatally gored by a bushbuck while attending to his parents’ vegetable garden to protect it from marauding wild animals.
The fatal attack occurred on August 5 at around 6am.
Manicaland police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, confirmed the incident and identified the victim as Isaac Mungani.
Muungani was in the company of Modester Mungani (35), when the tragic incident occurred.
Assistant Inspector Chinyoka said the duo was stationed at the garden to ward off wild animals when a bushbuck suddenly appeared.
In an attempt to chase it away, the bushbuck returned from behind and gored Isaac on the left thigh.
“Nearby boys rushed to his aid and managed to kill the animal,” said Assistant Inspector Chinyoka.
Isaac lost consciousness following the attack and was rushed to Birchenough Bridge Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. – Twenty Four Seven/ Herald Online
