DYNAMOS legend Murape Murape has publicly backed a growing fan movement calling for a boycott of the club’s match against rivals CAPS United on Sunday.
DeMbare host Makepekepe in a Castle Lager Premiership encounter this Sunday.
And Murape, a revered figure in Dynamos history, has now publicly aligned himself with the disgruntled supporters.
“The people have spoken! Join the movement and let’s bring the team back to glory,” Murape declared.
“If you genuinely love the people’s team, #BoycottTillTheyLeave. Let’s stand united and demand better for our beloved club. Together, we can make a difference,” Murape posted on Facebook.
Fans have been vocal in their criticism of club owner Bernard Marriott, accusing him of incompetence and holding the team “hostage” with his leadership style.
They have labelled him “out of touch” and a “hangman” for failing to address the club’s deteriorating state.
The root of the problem – fans believe – lies in Marriott’s reluctance to dismiss the current executive, led by chairman Moses Maunganidze.
Maunganidze is being accused of poor decision-making – including the team’s failure to recruit quality players at the start of the season, and secure sponsorship.
Former club vice chairman Vincent Chawonza, who is widely respected for his professionalism, is the fan favourite to be named club chairman.
DeMbare have since appointed Saul Chaminuka as the new coach, replacing Lloyd ‘Mablanyo’ Chigowe who has been reassigned to the team’s developmental side.
